巨人下半季悽慘的進攻效率，又讓他們付出代價，在今天對上柯羅拉多落磯的比賽中，他們整場比賽只敲出2支安打，被對方先發Chad Bettis完封9局，最終6：0輸掉這場比賽。
Bettis本季防禦率4.88並不算好，不過他今天卻自2015年9月3日再次投出完封的比賽，他完投9局無失分，還送給對方7次三振，整場比賽只有讓Eduardo Nunez和Trevor Brown兩人踏上壘包過。
反觀來到巨人表現不錯的Matt Moore在今天的比賽中一局爆，他在3局下對洛磯隊投出３次保送，還被轟出2支全壘打，其中一發是Calors Gonzalez的滿貫彈，該局狂丟6分，也吞下個人本季第11敗。
巨人到了下半季尾段賽程比較輕鬆，原本以為遇上勝率不足五成的洛磯隊，是進補的好時機，沒想到打線依舊低迷，被Bettis完封9局，系列賽第一場就吃了敗仗。
巨人這一場輸了之後，和道奇的勝差已經來到3.5場，而且國聯外卡第一的位置也即將落入人手，現在只領先第二的紅雀0.5場的勝差。
